Over lunch today:
Me: "Well, you're a boy... and I like you!" Pause. "Do ...you like boys?"
Ben: "No."
Me: "Why not? You're a boy! Don't you like being a boy?"
Ben: "I don't want to be a boy."
Me: "Why not?"
Ben: "Because you're a girl. I want to be a girl like you!"
Um....
Me: "Wellllllll, hmm. The cool thing about being a boy is that you get to take care of girls. So if you are a boy, you get to take care of me! Isn't that cool?"
Ben: [smiles] "Yeah."
